LCBI featured on Radio Intereconomía !
On December 3, José Antonio De Pedro Cuadrado, development director at Distrito Natural and key partner for the development of LCBI in Spain, was the guest of Elena Fraile Sánchez, director of “Con I de Inmobiliario” and “Clase Business” on Radio Intereconomía.
They discussed sustainability and decarbonization in the sector thanks to our partnership with the Asociación Ecómetro, which is advancing low-carbon certification at the European level by promoting a new common standard for sustainable construction.
? “We develop housing while minimizing our carbon footprint. Our purpose is, on the one hand, from a point of view of responsibility as developers. We are responsible for 40% of global carbon emissions. We are the most polluting industry, and although we have always flown under the radar, this seems to be changing.” said José Antonio de Pedro Cuadrado.
? “The Low Carbon Building Initiative and the Ecómetro Association are joining forces to decarbonize the real estate sector in Spain. They say we are moving forward little by little. Still, I’m not sure if this path is very difficult, because I have seen that one of the greatest difficulties lies in this diversity and also in the fragmentation of calculation methods,” said @Elena Fraile Sanchez.
? “BBCA, the association from which the LCBI was born, was founded in 2015. Following the Paris COP, the main developers, and this is quite a curious anecdote, isn’t it? The main promoters and French investment funds, the top three and the top three of each, got together to define how housing was going to be designed and built in the coming years in a more responsible way from a sustainability point of view, while always seeking affordability, right? And that is something that has inspired us greatly, on the one hand, as a company and, on the other hand, to create this association, so that there are also common best practices and we can learn from what is being done in other countries,” explained @ José Antonio de Pedro Cuadrado.
